Karen has her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science (UNC-Wilmington) and her Master of Science in Applied Nutrition (Northeastern Univ.), with a primary focus on consulting and education. With almost a decade of experience, she has developed a versatile wellness background , from working 1:1 as a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, to working with total populations, as a corporate wellness consultant.
Her true passion, lies in health coaching, where she has the ability to have her clients work towards the best version of themselves, through a healthy relationship with nutrition, exercise, and general lifestyle management.
Her approach uses a balance between motivational interviewing, education, and collaboratively creating short and long-term goals. She dives deep into understanding who her clients are, their past and current relationship with food & exercise., and is not a proponent of straight-forwards meal or diet plans, as they do not allow for flexibility. Instead, Karen works with her clients to develop a very flexible approach towards healthier eating and physical activity – knowing that life happens.
Karen enjoys spending her free time outdoors at the beach and hiking with her husband, and “fur child.” Her ambitious goal is to one day, trek up K2 – but for now, she will settle with the beautiful local trails throughout Southern California. She also enjoys working out in the gym, and cooking up a delicious storm in the kitchen.
